Strong Armed Robbery 18-11035 (2018/02/15)

On February 12, 2018, Sioux Falls Police responded to the parking lot of Hy-Vee at 1231 East 57th Street for an armed robbery.  The investigation showed that the female victim was in the parking lot returning to her vehicle.  While in the parking lot the suspect walked up to her and he was holding a knife in his right hand.  The suspect told her that he wanted her purse and the victim tried to get away from him.  The suspect followed the victim and attempted to stab her.  The victim fell to the ground and the suspect grabbed her purse.  The suspect then fled westbound from the parking lot.  The suspect was described as a Native American male with a thin build and a black scarf over his face.  He was last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes.  SFPD CC #2018-11035.

Residential Burglary 18-8770 (2018/02/08)

On February 3, 2018, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence in the area of East Rice Street and North Cleveland Avenue for a burglary report.  The investigation showed that an unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence through a sliding patio door.  After they gained entry to the residence the suspect(s) stole a safe which contained cash and numerous pieces of jewelry.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $20,000.  SFPD CC #2018-8770.



Armed Robbery 18-6161 (2018/02/01)

On January 25, 2018, Sioux Falls Police responded to Loves Travel Stop at 5301 North Cliff Avenue for an armed robbery.  The suspect entered the store, indicated he had a gun in his pocket and demanded money from the cash register.  The employee gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and he ran from the store.  The suspect is described as an African American male approximately 6’0” and heavy set.  The suspect was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black cargo pants, and a black ski mask covering his face.  SFPD CC #2018-6161.



Armed Robbery 18-4842 (2018/01/25)

On January 19, 2018, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near the intersection of West 41st Street and South Western Avenue for a robbery.  The suspect entered the store and approached the employee who was behind the counter.  The suspect indicated he had a gun in his pocket and demanded money from the cash register.  The employee gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and he ran southbound from the store.  The suspect is described as a Native American male in his 20’s, 5’8” to 6’0”, and having a medium build.  He was last seen wearing a San Antonio Spurs Ginobili #20 White Jersey and a dark bandana over his face. Car Break-Ins (2018/01/18)

Over the course of the last several weeks the Sioux Falls Police Department has responded to approximately 15 vehicle break-ins.  These break-ins are taking place in the parking lots of businesses throughout Sioux Falls.  The suspect(s) are breaking out vehicle windows to gain access to the property inside.  The damage done to the victim’s vehicles and the value of the property stolen is in the thousands of dollars.  The Sioux Falls Police Department would like to remind people to remove any valuable property from their vehicles.



Job Site Theft 18-2374 (2018/01/11)

On January 10th, 2018, Sioux Falls Police responded to a job site theft near the intersection of West 34th Street North and North Marion Road.  The business owner returned to the job site and noticed the construction trailer which contained his tools had been stolen.  The value of the stolen trailer and the tools inside is estimated at over $12,000.  SFPD CC#2018-2374.



Armed Robbery 17-105656 (2017/12/31)

On December 31, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business in the area of West 57th Street and South Marion Road for an armed robbery.  An employee was prepping the business for opening when three males entered.  The three males were all wearing dark colored clothing and masks over their faces.  One of the males was carrying a shotgun.  The males demanded money from the employee and then fled after obtaining it.  A picture of the suspect’s vehicle is attached. Theft 17-102937 (2017/12/21)

On December 20, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business in the area of W. Maple Street and N. Westport Avenue for a theft report.  The investigation found that between December 15, 2017 at 7:00PM and December 20, 2017 at 11:00AM, an unknown suspect(s) removed an ATM machine from the business.  The total loss is approximately $1200.00. 

 



Job Site Theft 17-100326 (2017/12/14)

On December 14, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of W. 26th Street and S. St. Michael's Circle for a theft from a construction trailer.  The investigation found that between 5:20PM on December 13, 2017 and 6:20AM on December 14, 2017, an unknown suspect(s) removed padlocks from a trailer and took numerous tools from inside.  The value of the stolen tools is approximately $4300.

Package Thefts (2017/12/07)

Over the course of the last several weeks, the Sioux Falls Police Department has responded to multiple reports of package thefts.  The packages were delivered to the victim’s homes and then left on the front porch. The Sioux Falls Police Department is asking people to follow these tips to protect you from being a victim.  1.  Ask a neighbor to pick up your packages for you if you know you’re not going to be home.  2.  Have items delivered to your work.  3. If a retailer allows it, select a specific time for delivery when you will be home.



Armed Robbery 17-96085 (2017/11/30)

On November 24, 2017 at 11:58 A.M. members of the Sioux Falls Police Department were dispatched to a business near the intersection of West 26th Street and South Sertoma Avenue for an armed robbery.  The investigation showed that a male wearing a United States Postal Service Uniform and wearing an elderly man mask entered the business carrying a package and some mail.  Once inside, the suspect pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at the two employees and took an undetermined amount of money.  After obtaining the money he exited the business and went eastbound.  The suspect had parked his vehicle in the 1800 block of South Campbell Trail and drove eastbound on 26th Street.  The vehicle was described as a dark colored Buick Envision. Burglary 17-93284 (2017/11/24)

On November 13, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a fenced in storage yard near the intersection of West 41st Street and South Grange Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation showed that an unknown suspect(s) made entry into the storage yard through a hole in the fence.  Once inside the yard, the suspect(s) stole six commercial D/C power generators.  The value of the stolen generators is approximately $14,000.  A picture of the stolen generator is attached.

Job Site Theft 17-93771 (2017/11/16)

On November 15, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to the intersection of East Donnelly Drive and East Twin Pines Drive for a parked construction trailer.  The investigation showed the trailer had been previously stolen from a construction job site.  The suspect(s) had stolen the trailer and transported it to this location to steal the tools inside.  The suspect(s) cut the padlocks off to gain entry to the trailer.  The value of the stolen tools and the trailer is approximately $14,000.

Burglary 17-92052 (2017/11/09)

On November 8, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of West 12th Street and South Lyon Boulevard for a burglary.  The suspect(s) were able to gain access to a locked construction trailer by cutting off the padlocks.  After cutting off the locks the suspect(s) stole numerous construction tools.  The value of the stolen tools and the damage is approximately $3,000.

Robbery 17-89137 (2017/11/02)

On October 29, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of West 12th Street and South Kiwanis Avenue for a robbery.  The suspect entered the store and the employee told him to leave because the business was closed.  The suspect pulled a knife out and ran toward the employee who was behind the counter.  The suspect went to the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspect was described as a Native American or Hispanic male, 5’7” and 150 pounds.  He was wearing all black clothing with a black ski mask over his face.

Robbery 17-88279 (2017/10/26)

On October 26, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of East 12th Street and South Bahnson Avenue for a robbery.  The suspect entered the store and approached the employee who was behind the counter.  The suspect pulled out a silver handgun and demanded money from the cash register.  The employee gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and he ran westbound from the store.  The suspect is described as a 40-50 year old African American male, salt and pepper stubble on his face, 5’7 and 180 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a blue thigh length coat, blue jeans, and dark colored shoes.  SFPD CC #2017-88279.



Burglary 17-84995 (2017/10/19)

On October 14, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of East 54th Street North and North Cliff Avenue for a burglary.  The suspects gained entry to the parking lot of the business by cutting a hole in the fence.  Once inside the fenced-in area the suspects stole several parts off the diesel trucks parked in the lot.  The value of the parts stolen and the damage to the fence are approximately $4,000.   A picture of the suspect’s vehicle is attached.

Burglary 17-82946 (2017/10/12)

On October 7, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near the intersection of East 26th Street and South Sycamore Avenue for a burglary.  The victim discovered that an unknown suspect(s) broke into his garage.  Once inside the suspect(s) stole the victim’s rare motorcycle.  The motorcycle is a 1975 Honda CR125 El Sinore edition.  The approximately value of damage and loss is $8000.  A picture of the motorcycle is attached.  SFPD CC #2017-82946.

Grand Theft 17-81663 (2017/10/05)

On October 3, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of East Rice Street and North Cliff Avenue for a theft.  The owner reported that an unknown suspect(s) entered several different company trucks and stole sixteen batteries from them.  The trucks were parked in the parking lot of the commercial business at the time of the theft.  The value of the stolen batteries is approximately $2500.  SFPD CC #2017-81663. 



Commercial Burglary 17-78752 (2017/09/28)

On September 23, 2017, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near the intersection of East 10th Street and South Cleveland Avenue for a burglary.  The suspects were able to gain entry to the business through a rear door.  Once inside the business, the suspects went into the office and loaded a safe onto a dolly cart.  The suspects then exited the building with the safe.  The safe contained an unknown amount of money.  SFPD CC #2017-78752.
