On September 23, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East Rice Street and North Highland Avenue for a robbery.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect entered the business and approached the employee working.  The suspect pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money.  The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money from the victim and fled from the business.

On September 10, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near East 67th Street North and North Cliff Avenue for a stolen camper.  The investigation found that unknown suspects stole a Prowler Lynx 28ft 5th wheel camper.  The value of the stolen camper is approximately $3,000.

On September 3, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a parking lot near West 49th Street and South Solberg Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that unknown suspects stole four after-market rims and tires off a vehicle parked in the lot.  The value of stolen items and damage done to the vehicle is approximately $6,000.

September 03, 2020

On September 3, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 18th Street and South Minnesota Avenue for an armed robbery.   The investigation found that an unknown suspect had entered the business and approached the employee working.  The suspect indicated he had a weapon and demanded money from the cash register.  The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money and fled from business in an older model maroon colored car.  The suspect was described as an approximately 5’8” male with a slender build, wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, and dark colored shoes.

Stolen Vehicles

In the last 30 days, Sioux Falls Police have responded to 108 stolen vehicle reports.  A high percentage of these stolen vehicles had the keys left in the vehicle and were unlocked.  Some tips to prevent stolen vehicles are: 1-Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle.  2-Always roll up the windows and lock your car, even if it’s in front of your home.  Don’t be a victim of this serious crime.

On August 17, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a job site near West 60th Street North and North Westport Avenue for a job site theft.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect cut the locks off a construction trailer to gain access.  Once inside the trailer the suspect stole numerous construction tools.  The value of the stolen tools and the damage done to the trailer is approximately $4,000 .

August 13, 2020

On August 7, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to an apartment complex parking lot near the area of West 18th Street and South Marion Road.  The investigation found that the victim was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by two unknown suspects.  The two suspects knocked on the victim’s window and when he rolled it down they started punching him.  The two suspects pulled the victim out of the vehicle and then drove off.  The two suspects are described as 16-19 year old Native American males, 5’6”-5’10” with a slender build and shoulder length hair. The vehicle has since been recovered.

On August 4, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a storage unit facility near West 5th Street and North Marion Road for a burglary.   The investigation found that unknown suspects had broken into a storage unit at the facility. The suspects stole approximately 12-15 motorcycles.  The total amount of loss from the damage and theft was approximately $40,000.

On July 27, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near East 41st Street and South Sycamore Avenue.  The investigation found several unknown suspects forced entry into the business.  Once inside, the suspects stole property and a safe.  The total amount of loss from the damage and theft was approximately $9,000.

On July 17, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near East 52nd Street North and North Lewis Avenue.  The investigation found an unknown suspect forced entry into multiple trucks owned by the business.  The suspect stole approximately $2,000 worth of property from the work trucks.

On July 13, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to an apartment complex near East 12th Street and South Charlotte Avenue for an arson.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had lit a garbage dumpster on fire and fled from the scene.

On June 24, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 12th Street and South Marion Road for a burglary.  The investigation found that two unknown suspects had made entry into the business by breaking a window.  The suspects then broke into multiple video lottery machines. The damage done to the building and the video lottery machines is approximately $6,000.

On June 17, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East 39th Street North and North Potsdam Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had accessed the property of the business through a fence.  The unknown suspect then took approximately $5000 worth of copper wire from the business.  The unknown suspect appeared to have been driving an early 2000’s gray Ford Taurus at the time of the incident.  SFPD CC# 2020-11749.

On June 4, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East Robur Drive and North Cliff Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect selected several parked vehicles in the parking lot of the closed business.  The suspect then cut off the catalytic converters of the vehicles.  The damage done to the vehicles and the loss of catalytic converters is approximately $5,000.

On June 1, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West Benson Road and North Westport Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that three unknown suspects entered the business by breaking a window.  The suspects stole ten firearms and then fled from the business. The cost of the damage and the stolen items is approximately $8,000.

On May 27, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East 12th Street and South Sycamore Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect entered the business by breaking a glass door.  The suspect stole numerous items and then fled from the business. Over the course of the last week, members of the Sioux Falls Police Department have responded to 5 separate reports of guns being stolen from vehicles.  In an effort to combat this problem the Sioux Falls Police Department encourages the public to employ some basic preventative measures which include: locking your vehicles, removing valuables from view, and not leaving guns in your vehicle.

On May 10, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 6th Street and North Phillips Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect entered the business and broke into multiple private offices.  The suspect stolen numerous items and then left in a dark colored SUV.  A picture of the vehicle is attached.
