On September 9, 2021, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the City of Baltic wastewater retention ponds.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had damaged a valve that connects several pipes.  The value of the damaged valve is approximately $5,000.

On September 2, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near East 49th Street and South Lewis Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had made entry into a vehicle parked on the street.  The suspects stole a computer bag that contained numerous pieces of electronics.  The value of the stolen electronics is approximately $3000.

On August 28, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near West 26th Street and South Sertoma Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had made entry into the residence when the homeowner was out of town on vacation.  Once inside the suspects stole numerous pieces of jewelry.  The value of the stolen jewelry is approximately $10,000.

On August 10, 2021, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a park located at 1901 South Perry Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had stolen a camera bag from a vehicle.  The camera bag contained a camera, numerous lenses, and a wallet.  The suspects also used the victim’s credit card at several area stores.  The value of the stolen electronics and charges on the credit card is approximately $17,000.

On August 18, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a job site near West Maple Street and North Career Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had made entry into a house under construction.  Once inside the suspect stole numerous construction tools.  The value of the stolen tools is approximately $2,500.

On August 12, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East 10th Street and South Cleveland Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had forced their way into the business.  Once inside the suspect broke into a video lottery machine and stole an undetermined amount of money.

August 05, 2021

On August 3, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a vehicle near East 6th Street and North Cleveland Avenue for a vandalism.  The investigation found that the victim was driving on 6th Street when a vehicle was stopped in the road.  There were two subjects outside of the stopped vehicle.  When the victim stopped one of the subjects started hitting the victim’s vehicle with a baseball bat.  The value of the damage done to the vehicle is approximately $1000.

Over the last 30 days, Sioux Falls Police have responded to 123 stolen vehicle reports.  A high percentage of these stolen vehicles had the keys left in the vehicle and were unlocked.  Some tips to prevent stolen vehicles are: 1-Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle.  2-Always roll up the windows and lock your car, even if it’s in front of your home.  Don’t be a victim of this serious crime.

On July 21, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East Arrowhead Parkway and South Highline Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect was in the store looking at several electronics.  When the employee working was distracted the suspect fled from the store.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $2300.

On July 14, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 12th Street and South Marion Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had forced entry into the business.  Once inside the suspects stole numerous cigarettes and cigars.  The value of the stolen items and the damage done to the business is approximately $7000.

Over the course of the last several weeks, the Sioux Falls Police Department has taken numerous reports where people have fallen victim to online/phone scams.  These scams target people of all backgrounds, ages and income levels.  If you've only ever met someone online or are unsure of the legitimacy of a business, take some time to do a bit more research.  Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

June 17, 2021

On June 15, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near East Benson Road and North St. Paul Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had accessed the business by jumping a fence.  The unknown suspects then stole tools from several vehicles in the lot.  The total loss is approximately $6000.00.  SFPD CC# 21-12941.

On June 10, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a commercial business near East 41st Street and South Sycamore Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that unknown suspects had broken into an ATM in the parking lot.  The suspects were able to obtain an undetermined amount of money before fleeing from the scene.

On May 26, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to Yankton Trail Park at 3901 South Minnesota Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had broken out the window of the victim’s vehicle.  Once inside the vehicle the suspect stole several purses.  The value of the stolen items along with the damage done to the vehicle is approximately $3,000.

May 20, 2021

On May 18, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a residence near East 3rd Street and North Bahnson Avenue for a robbery.  The investigation found that several unknown suspects were dropped off by a Lyft driver.  One of the suspects grabbed the driver’s cell phone.  When the driver attempted to get his phone back another suspect pushed him and they took his car keys.  The suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle.

On May 12, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 69th Street and South Louise Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect was able to gain entry to the business by breaking a glass door.  Once inside the suspect stole 5 bottles of high end alcohol.  The value of the damage done to the property and the stolen items is approximately $21,000.

On May 4, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a parking lot near East 8th Street and South Reid Street for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect was able to gain entry to a vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Once inside the vehicle the suspect stole a bag which contained an aviation headset and sunglasses.  The value of the stolen items is approximately $1500.
