On January 18, 2021, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East 6th Street and North Bahnson Avenue for a stolen construction trailer.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect had gone to a construction site and had stolen a construction trailer.  The construction trailer was full of tools being used at the job site.  The construction trailer was recovered but the tools were missing. The value of the stolen tools is approximately $20,000.

On December 29, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near East Rice Street and North Highland Avenue for a robbery.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect entered the business and approached the employee working.  The suspect pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money.  The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money and is believed to have left the scene in a dark colored vehicle similar to a Pontiac G6.

Over the course of the last week, the Sioux Falls Police Department has responded to multiple reports of package thefts.  The packages were delivered to the victim’s homes and then left on the front porch. The Sioux Falls Police Department is asking people to follow these tips to protect you from being a victim.  1.  Ask a neighbor to pick up your packages for you if you know you’re not going to be home.  2.  Have items delivered to your work.  3. If a retailer allows it, select a specific time for delivery when you will be home.

On November 10, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to an apartment complex near West 9th Street and North Kiwanis Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the apartment boiler rooms.  Once inside the suspect(s) stole the DVR for the security cameras.  After disabling the security cameras the suspect(s) broke into the commercial dryers in the laundry rooms.  The value of the stolen items and damage done to the property is approximately $3000.

On October 29, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a job site near West 60th Street North and North Kiwanis Avenue for a burglary.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect cut the locks off a construction trailer to gain access.  Once inside the trailer the suspect stole numerous construction tools and a Caterpillar skid steer.  The value of the stolen tools and the skid steer is approximately $67,000.

On September 23, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West Russell Street and North Westport Avenue for a larceny.  The investigation found that an unknown suspect selected several parked vehicles in the parking lot of the closed business.  The suspect then cut off the catalytic converters of the vehicles.  The damage done to the vehicles and the loss of catalytic converters is approximately $2,500.

On September 3, 2020, Sioux Falls Police responded to a business near West 18th Street and South Minnesota Avenue for an armed robbery.   The investigation found that an unknown suspect had entered the business and approached the employee working.  The suspect indicated he had a weapon and demanded money from the cash register.  The suspect obtained an undetermined amount of money and fled from business in an older model maroon colored car.  The suspect was described as an approximately 5’8” male with a slender build, wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, and dark colored shoes.
